Celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the Friends of St Albans Cathedral Last Saturday the Friends of St Albans Cathedral marked the 75th Anniversary of their re-founding in 1949 with the event 'Medieval Revelries'. The point of the event was to highlight all the fantastic work that the Friends do and to recruit new members. and to highlight our work and to recruit new members. The night included medieval-inspired music, theatre and dance, food and drink. It was a way of letting all know about how they too can care for our wonderful Cathedral. Membership secretary Hazel Ireson said "It was a magical evening exceeding all our expectations with its colour and spectacle. Over 100 members of the audience experienced our Cathedral which shone with lights and Harvest Festival flowers. There were trumpets, actors, singing monks and finally a joyful 'snake' dance with our audience in the South Transept led by our dancers and players. The Abbot's Kitchen had made beautifully presented and researched medieval food and mead was provided too! Grateful thanks to all those who made this possible and for the Cathedral for giving us its beauty, history and timelessness."
