This week, from Monday 2 June - Sunday 8 June, St Albans Cathedral proudly joins the nationwide celebration of Volunteers’ Week 2025, a moment to recognise and thank the many incredible individuals who give their time, skills, and energy to support the life of the Cathedral.

At the heart of everything we do is our vibrant community of over 500 dedicated volunteers, whose service keeps the Cathedral welcoming, thriving, and alive with history and hospitality.

From the warm smiles of our Welcomers, to the knowledge shared by our Guides and Education Volunteers, the care given by our Flower Guild, Holy Dusters, Eco Team and Stewards, the support of our Bellringers, the dedication of the Library Team, and the joyful work of our Children’s Church Leaders – every volunteer plays a vital role.

To honour their contribution, we are hosting a special Volunteers’ Evensong on Wednesday 4 June at 5pm – an annual opportunity to recognise the wonderful contribution that volunteers make in our cathedral community.
