It was a delight to welcome The Very Reverend Dr Andreas Loewe, Dean of Melbourne, to St Albans Cathedral this weekend.

Dean Andreas preached at both the 8am Eucharist and the 11.30am Festival Eucharist for All Saints’ Day. With many shared values between our two Cathedrals — including a deep commitment to mission and service, social justice, and inclusive community — his visit was both an encouragement and a challenge.

Reflecting on St Luke’s account of Jesus’ blessings and woes, Dean Andreas reminded us that, like the saints throughout history, we are called to bring the good news of Christ in word and loving service to those most in need — those whom Jesus names as blessed and favoured by God.

During his visit, Dean Andreas also brought greetings from St Paul’s Cathedral, Melbourne, and had the opportunity to meet many members of our Cathedral community.
