End of Summer Buzz at the Cathedral This summer, the Cathedral has been buzzing with laughter, music, and discovery as families flocked to its ever-popular holiday events. Children and adults alike stepped back in time and tapped into the Cathedral’s rich history through a vibrant programme that included the Summer Holiday Club, Family Yoga, A Day in the Life of a Medieval Monk, and two captivating Family Discovery Mornings filled with stories and music. Visitors were dazzled by magicians, swept up by samba drummers, inspired by scientists, enthralled by re-enactors, and uplifted by musicians — creating unforgettable moments for all ages. A particular highlight came courtesy of Dewi Rees, the Cathedral’s talented Assistant Director of Music and Partnerships, who not only revealed the fascinating inner workings of the mighty Cathedral organ but also delighted children with a magical performance of The Teddy Bears’ Picnic. Steve, from the Cathedral’s Learning team, reflected: “We love to welcome families to our holiday events – the buzz they create as they explore the Cathedral and learn about its history is always a joy. Our dedicated team of volunteers have so much knowledge to share and make everyone feel at home. Keep an eye out – there are plenty more exciting events on the horizon!” 🎹 Discover the OrganAs part of the morning, children enjoyed an organ demonstration from Dewi, learning about the instrument’s thousands of pipes and dozens of sounds. All of these were showcased in his sparkling performance of The Teddy Bears’ Picnic. If your child plays the piano to Grade 5 standard or above and is interested in learning the organ, we’d love to hear from you.📧 [email protected] Manage Cookie Preferences
