On Tuesday 14 October we were delighted to welcome the Headteachers of those schools associated with our Cathedral Choir. Our 52 choristers attend 24 different schools. We are most grateful for the support of the Headteachers of these schools for their support of our choral programme, which, alongside the commitment of choir parents, makes possible the pattern of daily choral services in this holy place.

Evensong was sung by the combined boys and girls with music by Blatchly, Burgon and Hurford. The headteachers observed the choristers rehearsing, joined us at Choral Evensong, and then enjoyed a drinks reception following the service. The school communities were thanked and prayed for during the service.

Dean Jo said afterwards,

"Our choristers were so pleased to see the headteachers, and other staff, from their schools at Evensong.  Music is a key part of our Cathedral’s commitment to serving our community and reaching out to offer the gift of music to others.  Our connection with these schools is one way in which that is expressed."
