It was a joy to welcome Nicholas Breakspear Catholic School to St Albans Cathedral on Thursday 4th July for a special Anniversary Mass celebrating 60 years of the school.

The service was a wonderful celebration of the school community and the mass was celebrated by Cardinal Vincent Nicholls who gave an inspiring talk to the students reminding them to not fear and to be courageous reflecting the readings and school values. Towards the end of the service students performed a dramatic piece taking us through the key events of the decades spanning the 60 years of NBS history which included the miners’ strike, some Irish dancing and even some Gangnam Style! As well as poignant tributes to the NHS and to the value of coming together for the greater good. It was a service which showcased the gifts and talents of the school community and was a fitting celebration on such a significant milestone which we were privileged to host here at the cathedral.
