New Beginning : Peregrine chick hatches We are delighted to confirm that at least one peregrine falcon chick has hatched in the nest high above St Albans Cathedral. In this tender early stage, it is not yet clear how many chicks may have emerged — the parents are naturally protective, and visibility is limited. What we can see is a sign of new life, following a deeply difficult start to the season. Earlier this spring, the falcons’ first clutch of eggs was lost in a tragic incident that remains under police investigation. But just weeks later, a second clutch was laid — and now, signs of hatching offer a powerful moment of quiet joy and recovery. “This is an incredible testament to the wonder and glory of creation, and the resilience that is within it. Our Cathedral has witnessed something truly special, nature at its most determined," said Dean Jo. "These chicks are a symbol of the gift of life, which will not be defeated.” Follow Alban and Boudica now through our peregrine live cam: Peregrine live cam Manage Cookie Preferences
