Our Rose window has been shortlisted in a national competition to find England’s Favourite Stained Glass Window, with the public now invited to cast their vote.

The competition is being run by the Association of English Cathedrals (AEC) and follows the hugely successful Divine Light campaign, which celebrated the richness and diversity of stained glass across England’s cathedrals during Advent, Christmas and beyond.

Over the course of 45 days, the AEC shared a different stained glass window each day from every Church of England cathedral, plus Westminster Abbey, St George’s Chapel Windsor and St German’s Cathedral on the Isle of Man. The campaign highlighted nearly 900 years of artistic achievement, from medieval masterpieces to striking modern works, and engaged more than 110,000 people across social media platforms.

At the end of the campaign, the twelve most 'liked' windows were selected as finalists, placing our Rose window among some of the most celebrated examples of cathedral glass in the country.

Public voting is now open, with participants asked to choose a single favourite from the shortlisted windows. Everyone who votes will also be entered into a prize draw to win one of three copies of Divine Light – The Stained Glass of England’s Cathedrals by Janet Gough OBE.

Voting is open for a limited time, and everyone is encouraged to take part and help celebrate the enduring beauty of cathedral stained glass — including our Rose window.
