Summer Holiday Club Brings Fun and Friendship to the Cathedral Last week, St Albans Cathedral was filled with the sound of laughter and activity as we welcomed 45 young people to our Summer Holiday Club. From day one, participants were divided into their teams — the Abbey Bears 🐻, the Roman Lions 🦁, and the Tower Falcons 🦅 — beginning each morning with an assembly exploring the wonders of the world, the universe, and the love and care we show for one another. The week offered a rich mix of sports, games, and creative workshops — with many young people taking home something they had made each day. Among the most talked‑about highlights were: Mosaic making 🎨 The Fruit Safari 🍎🍌🍇 Science experiments 🔬 Creative art inspired by creation and the Big Bang — now proudly displayed above the Welcome Centre The ever‑popular magic show ✨ And the runaway favourite in the sports hall: Shark Attack, a high‑energy parachute game requested daily! 🦈 It was inspiring to watch friendships form between children who had never met before, as they shared in activities and supported one another. As the week progressed, staff and volunteers were encouraged by the natural ways young people expressed their thoughts and ideas during creative and reflective sessions. “It was wonderful to see the groups bonding over the week and to hear our young people talk and laugh together as they worked and played.” - Fr Jason We look forward to welcoming more children and young people to the Holiday Club next year. Keep an eye on your emails for booking details! And if your family missed out this year — don’t worry. There’s plenty happening over the summer with our Education Department, and we’ll be gathering at our All‑Age Eucharist on Sunday 14 September at 9:30am for the Blessing of the School Bags — with more family activities to come throughout the year.
