I am delighted to announce that Bishop Alan has appointed The Revd Jason Wratten as the new Minor Canon Youth Chaplain at St Albans Cathedral. Jason is currently Assistant Curate in the parish of Jarrow and Simonside in Durham Diocese.  In his interview Jason clearly demonstrated his passion for, and commitment to, ministry with and for children and young people and their families. Jason noted that in his curacy this ministry, including in schools, has brought him much joy. It was great to hear about Jason’s formative experience also in the Hatfield Internship Scheme in our diocese.

Jason commented,  “I, along with my wife, Kayla, our newborn son, John, and Labradoodle, Echo, are really looking forward to joining working alongside the wonderful team and community at St Albans Cathedral, and in the wider diocese. St Albans Diocese played a big role in my own journey of faith and to priesthood during my time as a ministry assistant, and I am excited to see how God is moving among the young people of the diocese. I look forward to coming alongside them as they explore their faith and their relationship with God.”

We will be glad to welcome Jason, Kayla, and John, to the Cathedral community late in the spring. Please pray for Jason and Kayla in this time of transition, and for our Children and Youth volunteers who continue to do a wonderful job leading this ministry.
