On Sunday 4 May, volunteers gathered in the Nave for the annual tea party to celebrate their friendship and contribution to Cathedral life. You'll see some of the wonderful faces that attended the tea party in photographer Banita Lal's photos below.

Members of Cathedral staff joined us to serve tea and cakes to acknowledge volunteers’ help in so many aspects of their roles.

I spent a lovely previous day baking cake.  There were 24 lemon meringue cupcakes, 24 chocolate cupcakes, 24 mini jammy ring cakes, 24 spring flower cupcakes, 12 vegan vanilla cupcakes, 12 vegan chocolate cupcakes and a large gluten free chocolate cake.  Almost all were eaten up with a cup of tea from a real cup and saucer.  This is my favourite event of the year!

It is so lovely for me to provide an event just for volunteers to show them how valued they are and allows us as staff a moment to connect with volunteers and to serve them for a change.  All our volunteers are precious to us.

The occasion is open to all active and associate volunteers and is a lovely occasion to meet old friends and make new ones.  Do look out for the date for next year in the volunteers newsletter.
