Amazing Architecture (Tour)

Discover 1,000 years of history on a tour through our Abbey’s iconic architecture, from Norman foundations to modern additions.

Explore the monumental Norman work of what was, when it was built, the largest church in the country. From there, we trace the medieval expansions and reconstructions led by the Abbots, followed by the dramatic Victorian restoration of George Gilbert Scott and the infamous Lord Grimthorpe. Finally, we look at the more recent additions, including the Chapter House and Welcome Centre. No prior architectural knowledge is required to enjoy this journey through time.
