Learning Adult Learning Embodying Faith: Christian Yoga Course Book now This four week course will give an introduction to and overview of the history and philosophy of yoga and how it intersects with the Christian faith. Each session will take place in the Nave on the following Thursday evenings between 8 - 9pm: 25 June 2 July 9 July 16 July Yoga, whilst originating in the context of different faiths and cultures, is, rather than a religion, a technology of wellbeing, which unlike other modalities, addresses the whole person - body, mind and spirit. The techniques, practices and underpinning philosophies can be adopted as complementary to an existing faith practice. Each session will incorporate physical practice (asana) as well as breath work (pranayama) and an introduction to meditation techniques. While yoga is not unique to any one religion, this course will be Christian in theme and focus and will incorporate biblical themes and Jesus’ own words as we move and breathe and allow them to speak to us on a deeper level. This course is for you if: You would like to explore a creative way of making your existing prayer life more embodied You have always been curious about how the practice of yoga can integrate with your existing Christian faith You are exploring faith and religion in general but want to try something other than traditional church services You want to learn more about yoga, or Christianity or both This course is open to those of any faith or none and requires only an open mind and enough flexibility to get up and down from the floor! Please bring your own yoga mat and appropriate clothing. No previous experience is necessary.
